Author’s Note | The Story & Mission Behind the Book

Growing Up in Senegal

I witnessed firsthand the societal challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals—their pain, isolation, and resilience. These experiences left a lasting impact on me, shaping my passion for advocacy, inclusivity, and cybersecurity.

As a tech professional and a firm believer in love in all its forms, I felt compelled to use my voice to shed light on these realities. This book is my tribute to the unheard voices and the brave souls navigating life under immense scrutiny.

The Journey to Writing This Book

The inspiration for Senegal and Its LGBT+ Children came from countless conversations with friends, acquaintances, and strangers—people who courageously shared their stories of love, struggle, and survival.

One story, in particular, still keeps me awake at night…

A young boy reached out to our organization, Boys & Girls Clubs of Senegal, sending videos of himself crying. He had been abused, raped, and thrown out of his home—all because he was gay.

💔 I hope and pray that he is safe wherever he is.

Why This Book Matters

This novel is more than just a story—it’s a call to action for inclusivity, justice, and acceptance. Through my work with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Senegal and the Pride Funding Network, I have seen the transformative power of community support in creating safe spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals to thrive.
